Switzerland

Our first experience in Switzerland began in Basel, after arriving from Luton Airport. One of the first things that surprised us was just how expensive the country is—when a small box of kebab meat for the two of us cost £30, we quickly realised we’d need to adjust our budget. For comparison, the same meal in the UK would have been half the price! As a result, we ended up relying more on snacks than full meals during our journey—a real shock to the system!

Despite the costs, Switzerland’s natural beauty was undeniable. We travelled by train to Lauterbrunnen and then took a cable car up to Mürren in the Alps, where the breathtaking scenery made it all worthwhile. Next time, though, we’ll definitely be better prepared for Switzerland’s high prices!
