Schwechat

Day One:

Rather than diving straight into Vienna, we chose to spend our first night in Schwechat, a small town just outside the capital. Since we arrived late in the evening, settling into Schwechat allowed us to ease into the country without the rush of city life. This was also the first trip where we were joined by our travel companion, Tammy's brother Kyle.

After landing at 10:00 pm, we caught a train from the airport and made our way to the town. With a 30-minute walk to our loft-style apartment, it was already 11:30 pm by the time we arrived. The loft was a unique setup, converted into a cosy mini apartment within someone’s home, and it had the best-percolated coffee we've ever tasted. After a couple of cups, we settled in for the night, excited to explore the charm of Schwechat the next morning.

Day Two:

The next morning, we set out to explore the peaceful town of Schwechat. It was quiet and serene, offering us a glimpse into everyday life in Austria outside the bustling city. The calm streets and friendly atmosphere made for a relaxing start to our journey, a perfect contrast to the vibrant energy we were about to experience in Vienna.

After soaking in the morning stillness, we made our way to the train station. To our surprise, the ticket machine also offered the option to pay for bus fares, so we opted for a bus instead of the train to get into the heart of Vienna. With tickets in hand, we set off on a short ride to begin our Austrian adventure in the capital.
