Day One:
We arrived in Split, Croatia, at night from Luton airport (which was actually the first time we went to that airport too now we think of it), the first thing we noticed was the city’s steep terrain! Our apartment was at the top of a massive hill, and after a long day of traveling, the climb was intense. But hunger took priority, so we decided to stop off at a takeaway near the top before heading to our accommodation.
Tammy went for a kebab, but something else caught Bob’s eye—Cevapcici. It looked similar to a kebab but had its own unique twist. They offered two sizes: one with 5 pieces and one with 10, and being famished, Bob opted for the 10-piece option. To his surprise, the whole meal only cost around £12!
We had a great chat with the takeaway owner, who was incredibly friendly and patient as we practiced our Croatian. She even helped us with our pronunciation, making our first interaction with a local a positive and welcoming one. It was a great first impression of the people of Croatia!
Once we arrived at our apartment, which was conveniently just around the corner, we dug into our dinner. And wow—Cevapcici instantly became one of Bob’s favorite foods! It’s hard to believe that something this delicious isn’t more popular in the UK. If it ever made its way there, it could definitely rival kebabs.
Bob was offered the option to add cheese to the Cevapcici, and thinking it was cheddar, he said yes. But instead of cheddar, it came with Kaymak—a rich, thick cream-like cheese that was absolutely incredible. Combined with Ajvar, a flavorful red pepper paste that Bob had researched before the trip, the dish was an explosion of flavors. Cevapcici, Kaymak, Ajvar, and fresh bread—it’s a match made in heaven!
The apartment itself was great value for money, cozy, and the perfect base to kickstart our vlogging adventure. This was our first trip with the new DJI Pocket 2 camera, and we couldn’t wait to explore Split the next morning and capture everything on film!
Day Two:
On our second day in Split, we set out for the harbor, feeling excited to vlog with our new DJI Pocket 2 camera. After previously using an old phone and a shaky selfie stick in the first vlog we did in Poland a few months prior, it was amazing to finally have some proper gear for high-quality content.
We decided to start off by exploring Diocletian’s Palace and the Old Town. The area was touristy but undeniably beautiful.
However, our plans quickly changed when the sky opened up, and the rain started pouring down—hard. We made a quick stop to buy an umbrella and, naturally, grabbed another Cevapcici for lunch too!
We also picked up a bottle of beer, and curious about the local rules, we asked the lady behind the counter if it was okay to drink in public in Croatia. She said yes, but we later found out she probably misunderstood. Thankfully, we didn't have a way to open the bottle until we got back to the apartment, so we avoided any awkward situations!
Determined to make the most of the day, we hiked up Marjan Hill. But as we reached the top, we noticed a massive storm forming. We decided to head back down, and on our way, disaster struck—we lost a £60 wide-angle lens from our new camera. Unfortunately, the lens was flimsy and didn’t stay attached well. It was a tough loss, especially for such an expensive accessory. We wouldn’t recommend it, especially after that experience.
Coming to think about it while editing the footage from this day, we noticed a big issue with overexposure (see 12 minutes into the above video to see what we mean). This became a persistent problem in our vlogs for almost a year until we finally figured out the right settings, if you look at the Bydgoszcz footage you can really see the difference in quality too we think!
At the time, we regretted buying the DJI Pocket 2 because of this issue, and since we were locked into a monthly payment plan, we were stuck with it. In hindsight, we wished we had gone for a GoPro, but we mistakenly thought it was more suited for action shots. Despite the frustration, we've now come to appreciate the DJI Pocket 2 for its compact size, but back then, Bob’s tinkering made the footage worse which unfortunatly affected the Mostar vlog quality so we will be coming back to both Croatia and Bosnia one day to redeem ourselves for sure!
Before heading home we stopped by an ice cream stall run by a friendly guy from Macedonia who had lived in Split for over 40 years. He made great ice cream and told us about the similarities between Macedonian and Croatian languages, which was pretty fascinating.
Before heading back to the apartment, we stopped at a nearby restaurant. Bobby tried some traditional Croatian food while Tammy opted for a tuna pizza. The restaurant owner was incredibly friendly, just like every Croatian we had met so far. The hospitality in this country is next-level.
After our meal, we headed back to our apartment, dried off Bob did some editing, and after a lovely warm shower relaxed with the hilarious Three Lions film to end the day on a fun note!
Day Three:
Our final morning in Split started with a bit of chaos. Bobby had a nasty fall on a smooth surface, much to Tammy's amusement! Although Bob didn’t find it funny at the time, we can laugh about it now. It was actually caught on the vlog, but in his frustration, Bob deleted the clip—looking back, we wish we had kept it!
After dusting himself off, we went back to Old Town and found a bakery for breakfast, where we tried Burek. We’d heard so much about it, and it didn’t disappoint.
At the bus station, we hit another small snag—Bob’s hair tie broke, one of the "joys" of growing long hair! Thankfully, there was a shop nearby where we stocked up. We spent some time practicing our Croatian with the locals in a nearby cafe, watching football on TV, and passing the time before our bus was due.
The bus station was a bit confusing, with three different platforms all labeled "Platform 5." After some wandering, we finally spotted the big green FlixBus heading to Dubrovnik and got ourselves sorted.
Once on the bus, we had plenty of entertainment ready for the four-hour journey. Bob was catching up on the Cinema Sins YouTube channel, while Tammy watched the Baptiste series on Netflix. The journey was long, but the incredible views of Croatia’s coastline made it worthwhile. The scenery was easily some of the most stunning we’ve ever seen!

Day Four:
Having explored Dubrovnik and Mostar, we returned to where it all began in Split, Croatia. After a long travel day on the 26th, we took it easy, catching up on much-needed rest after our late arrival from Bosnia.
In the morning we headed back to Diocletian’s Palace we found an underground market which we visited and Bob brought Tam a gift and went on a mini market hunt down there.
Later on we decided to do something a little different and visited Kaštel Gomilica, a charming village located just outside of Split. This historic site is known for its picturesque waterfront, traditional Dalmatian architecture, and rich cultural heritage. The kaštel offers stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and is famous for its medieval fortifications and the serene atmosphere that draws visitors looking to escape the bustling city.
After exploring, we headed back to the airport, where we encountered a common hiccup with our flight— a two-hour delay. It seems Wizz Air has a knack for not leaving on time!
While waiting, Bob took the opportunity to finish some last-minute editing. As we sat in the airport, we reflected on our incredible experiences in Split, Dubrovnik, and Mostar. This trip marked a turning point for us, as it was the first time we truly committed to the vlogging side of our adventures.
With a renewed passion for travel and storytelling, we hope to return to these beautiful countries one day, armed with even more knowledge about vlogging, filming, and editing.
