Taghazout

Day One:

Having arrived in Taghazout via the taxi with our new friend Sam we said our goodbyes, split the taxi fare and started to explore the village on the way to the hostel we had booked. It was a lovely quaint little place but one thing stood out...it was PACKED full of toursits! This was strange for us as the past few days in Agadir we had not seen another tourist as we had been staying in the non-touristy areas of the city, despite this we were still excited and headed to our hostel.

Upon arriving at the Ocean View Hostel we were impressed by the decor, it was a genuinely beautiful place! The staff spoke wonderful English and we conversed in Arabic with them which impressed them, the chef was an outstandingly nice guy and even gave us a complimenatry pancake with our tea that we ordered, a prime example of the hospitality of Morocco!

We got to our room and was delighted with the view from the balcony and the facilities given the price of £30 for the night we had paid! We unpacked and headed into the village and met an interesting guy straight away as we were vlogging, he was talking all this random stuff and when asked where the video would be posted and we said YouTube he asked for us to delete it as he didn't want his family to see it, we obliged as he was a nice guy and carried on, on our way to the beach.

We took a look around and was impressed with how clean and well maintained it was, we then headed to the skate park to admire the local skating culture, we had to climb a rather large hill to get there and Bobby had a flu which was kindly given to him by a lady in front of him on the plane and Tammy decided to sit it out, so Kyle (Tammy's brother) who had joined us on this trip when up with Bobby instead.

After heading back down we headed to get some food and found a place overlooking the beach, it was a nice spot and the waiter there gave us a complimentary tea and pancakes, such nice people the Moroccans, its a shame that only the scams are covered online and not the hospitality of the people themselves!

We had a muscian serenade us and also had a street troup perform some cool backflips and tricks (although we only had enough money to tip the musican, but the street dancers were still greatful with smiles and nods). With the light of the day slowly fading we headed back to the hostel to chill on the balcony enjoying the views for the evening.

Sleep was tough as it was hot and there was no aircon, although later on before we left we found a fan in the cupboard would you believe!

Day Two:

On our final day we woke up early to catch the sunset, it was beautiful and a great way to start the day! We then headed downstairs after packing and woke Kyle who was in a seperate room and headed down for breakfast which was included in the price of the stay.

It was amazing with a fresh honey cake, mssemen (a local flatbread), various dips which included amalou (which is an almond nut butter with argan oil and honey), olive oil, honey and jam; as well as an omellette, mint tea and orange juice, a lovelt filling start to the day on a table we shared with an italian family and 2 English backpackers.

After we finished we handed the key back, said thank you to the staff for their kindness and hospitality and headed to the bus stop hoping that we wouldn't get a repeat of the trip to Taghazout where the bus never turned up.

We met a guy along the way who offered us an apartment, we didn't need it of course but we stopped for a chat and he was a really nice man who offered up his local knowledge of the area. As we were chatting a fight broke out amongst the nearby taxi drivers, this was a common thing we noticed in Morocco, lots of infighting and hostilities amongst drivers and the drivers from the illegal ride share apps in the country, the guy we were speaking to broke it up and we went back to talking for a bit longer before our bus finally arrived, 15 minutes late.

We had to pack into it stood up against people like sardines, but it was worth it for the 0.30p equivalent fare! We thoroughly enjoyed our little day trip to Taghazout and are glad that random YouTube comment we had stumbled across on a video we were watching on Agadir a few months back had led us here!

We finaly arrivied back into Agadir at the bus stop opposite to the one we tried to get to Taghazout on, you can read more about our return trip to Agadir here if you are interested.
