Toruń

Visited:

Our day in Toruń was nothing short of enchanting as we set out to explore this historic city known for its rich heritage and vibrant atmosphere. We had arrived from Bydgoszcz upon a recommendation from a friend who was from there.

As we wandered through the cobbled streets, we were eager to learn about the life of Nicolaus Copernicus, the famed astronomer born here, and the legacy of the Teutonic Knights, who once ruled the region and shared our new found knowledge with our viewers. Their influence is evident in the stunning architecture that fills the town, with well-preserved mediaeval buildings creating a captivating backdrop.

During our exploration, we indulged in local culinary delights, starting with a satisfying kebab that fueled our adventures. We also discovered a unique gingerbread beer (poor Kyle had a beetle land in his drink and we had to fish the poor lil guy out who thankfully survived, but was definitely stumbling away from us...probably heading home to his wife to try and explain why he was so drunk! 🤣).

Alongside this we also enjoyed a meal at a charming milk bar. Each bite and sip reflected the city's rich culture, making our experience even more memorable!

As we continued our journey through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed town, we were blown away by the beauty and historical significance of the architecture. The town’s mediaeval layout and buildings transport you back in time, creating a truly immersive experience. However, as our day drew to a close and we prepared to return to Bydgoszcz, we encountered a bit of a hiccup. The bus stop was poorly marked, leading us to almost miss our ride home. Fortunately, our bus was delayed, allowing us just enough time to locate the stop and make our way back. It was a relief, and for the first time, we found ourselves grateful for a late bus!

You can head back to read the rest of the Bydgoszcz trip here.
